The Bee Blot offers full automation of washing and hybridisation for stip based assays which can be run from the integral keypad. Up to 48 samples can be accommodated per run, with typical run times around 2.5 hours, allowing up to three or more runs per day. The walk-away instrument employes non-water based heating systems.

Precision stepper motors are used to move a dispensing arm above the tray wells, and up to six different reagents (further two reagents optional), can be delivered under software control. The reagents can be heated to a pre-determined temprerature within the assay protocol, using a new and innovative non-water based heating system. An integral fan cools the tray after a heating step for the addition of ambient reagents, and a reagent save feature sucks back to the reagent into the bottles after the last reagent dispense step. Up to two reagents can be pre-heated on board the instrument for a pre-determined time.

Colour colded tubing connectors are incorporated for ease of reagent location, and well-proven components are used throughout the instrument to ensure reliability and low maintenance.

Semi-Automated washing and hybridisation steps of stip-based assays.

The Baby Bee offers semi-automation of washing and hybridisation for stip based assays. The user-friendly software allows the operator to design cusom assays using the integral keypad. Up to 25 different assays can be stored with up to 30 steps per assays. Each step within the assay can be programmed to heat up to a different temperature ranging from ambient to 65 degrees centigrade.

The rocking tray can be programmed to tilt, rock or remain level for each step, with an audible buzzer alerting the operator when each incubation step has been completed. An audible bleeping sound will alert the operator to the end of the assay.

The Baby Bee is ideal for the small throughput laboratory, or for the research institute developing strip based assays. The simple programming and operation of the instrument allows sthe Baby Bee to become a useful training tool for the laboratory.
