affinity chromatography. |
| Specificity |
Recognizes human bone
morphogenetic protein (BMP2) using an ELISA format. |
| Storage and
Stability |
May be stored at 4
degree Celsius for a short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid
repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (25-50%). Freeze at
-20degree Celsius or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 24 months at
-20degree Celsius. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original
vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be
made in assay buffer. |
| Description |
Human Bone
Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP2) is a disulfide-bonded homodimeric protein
with an apparent molecular weight of 26kD. BMP2 regulates similarly to its
nearest homologue BMP-4 diverse fundamental processes during embryonic
development:
BMP2 and other BMP proteins have great potential for medical therapeutic
applications, in particular because they allow or at least accelerate the
ossification of extensive bone lesions. BMP2 lacks the natural N-terminus
which results in a 15-20 fold increase of specific activity. BMP2 is a
heparin binding protein. |
| Applications |
Suitable for use in
ELISA. Other applications not tested. |
